Help me out here. Is this a hit or a miss? Usually I would ask that towards the end of my rant, but it is at the forefront of my mind. I came across the Emilio Pucci Frame Bag and I’ve done nothing but go back and forth between love it and hate it. It’s a fairly simple bag when you think about it. A simple silhouette adorned with multicolored silk. Here’s one of my many questions, what could you fit inside of it? Your key(s) and ID perhaps a credit card. Other than that not much else.
Then I move onto the colors. They are ok. Nothing too out there. I guess that can be good or bad. Good in the sense that you can wear it with a lot of outfits, bad in the sense that it doesn’t really add a whole lot of “WOW”. Do you agree? I do like the detachable bangle wristlet. I think it is cute and I am sure it will receive much more use than the bag itself. So tell me, am I missing something here? Buy through Saks for $995.

The Spring has been a very busy time for us here at Purse Blog. And as we are lucky enough to work with fabulous designers and brands, there is one thing that I continue to notice; it is a busy time for them as well. Come to think of it, I can’t really pin-point a lull when it comes to fashion. Designers are always working on upcoming seasons, promoting current seasons and trying to stay innovative.
Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to the lovely and gracious Jackie Cawthra of Belen Echandia. Commonly referred to as BE, this brand has a huge following over at the Purse Forum. It comes as no surprise since Jackie is as involved in her line and her supporters as just about any designer I’ve met. Jackie’s constant attention to detail, dedication to her brand, and most admirable, dedication and attention to her supporters has made the brand what it is today. As you read through the interview, I am sure you will see what I mean.
Before you get started, one amazing teaser: starting tomorrow, you can help us design a one-of-a-kind Belen Echandia handbag. That’s right we’re teaming up with Belen Echandia to bring you an exclusive Purse Blog/Purse Forum handbag! AMAZING!!!

Oh Christian Louboutin how you intrigue me, time and time again. We’ve had countless mini-debates about what we think about CL handbags. For the most part the feedback I get is that CL shoes are totally amazing while CL handbags, although sometimes amazing, are always a bit overpriced. I can’t say I disagree.
I came across the Christian Louboutin Pillow Clutch and once again found myself kinda wanting it to be mine. The clutch seems so disco-fab, don’t you think? The clutch is comprised of gold metallic leather, pleating throughout, zip detailing, a gold chain shoulder strap (that I actually might use) and of course, the signature red satin lining. Sure, it will set you back a bit, but it might just be worth it! Buy through Net-a-Porter for $1295.
Purse Forum has been buzzing about Lockheart bags recently and I can see why. Jennifer Tash and Trang Huynh are the founders of Lockheart, whose mantra is “Follow your heart”. The duo first created Isabella Fiore. In 2006 the duo started Lockheart, whose bags still make a statement but are more toned down than many Fiore bags. Their bags continue to gain exposure and the fan base continues to grow. Because of this, we are deeming Lockheart Buzz Worthy. Stay tuned for more from Lockheart in the future.
Ever since we started publishing our own photography works to spice up our Purse Blog and showcase products, I have not been completely happy with the ‘Bag Art’ category name. Hence, I propose the following:
Help me find a new, spiffy, edgy name for the category, leave your suggestions in the comments below. Top 5 picks will be rewarded with a $50 gift certificate to the store of choice, while the winning pick will also win a brand new handbag!
Post your entries until Sunday night 8pm EST, we’ll be picking and announcing the winners then!
Good luck, and may the best entry win!
Some nights when I decide my working day is over, I end of browsing online etailers. And then I get shopping. I don’t even realize what I am doing, but with a few clicks all of a sudden, days later, I have 3 packages waiting for me. That happened last night. Postman arrived at our door with 5 packages. WHAT? Vlad found his way to Newegg.com for computer products and I found my way to ShopBop, Tobi, and Victoria’s Secret. Always a treat to forget what you ordered.
Anyhow, ShopBop has an amazing deal going on right now. You can buy any handbag and receive 25% off when you enter ARMCANDY at checkout. Check out the bags we would opt for! Ends tonight at 11:59 p.m..
Mother’s Day is right around the corner. While you might be planning a huge gathering which includes all the mother’s in your family or you are working on finding the right card and/or gift to send to your mom. Each year, I end up doing something a little different. Years past, I’ve flown into town and surprised her and other years I’ve sent a card with a Starbucks gift card (her daily must-have). This year, I am toying with the idea of getting her a new handbag.
The Salvatore Ferragamo Leather Evening Bag is a great contender for an ultra-fabulous Mother’s Day gift. The soft textured leather it topped with a bow trim on the chain strap. The lavender colored leather pictured here definitely hits that Mother’s Day/Spring Time feel. However, if you don’t want to seem too limiting, go for the black leather and let mom look fashionable with several outfits throughout all seasons. Buy through Saks for $520.

Yet again, another lucky day for all of you in the NYC area. Wednesday, April 29th head on over to Henri Bendel to meet the amazing Adriana Castro and enjoy a fabulous trunk show! Adriana will be there to greet customers and also to help customers custom make their bags. You can choose from signature styles, colors, skins; crocodile, lizard, python to name a few skins…and finishes; glazed, matte, metallic, stone wash…
And of course, if you can attend, make sure to come back and tell us all about it!

I am officially jealous of this cake. Jealous of the receiver, jealous of the people that could actually create and design this, jealous of all who helped eat it. This is indeed a cool cake. Looks like this was given as a gift for a 21st birthday. And while so many people equate lots of shots on their 21st, a designer handbag cake would have been up my ally so much more. This is a Gucci Cake complete with a Gucci Boston Bag on top of a Gucci Box. Even the little cookie would have made my day. I can not imagine the price for a cake like this, novelty enough that it would end up being totally ridiculous, but isn’t it amazing? I am now rethinking our wedding cake. Why did we go traditional when I could have had a full fledged designer handbag cake for all of our guests. My birthday is coming in September though. Instead of Gucci, I would prefer more of a Chanel or Hermes. Just sayin’. [Image via Flickr]
