Forzieri’s ‘Island Glam’ accessories are actually pretty cute

Thursday 1 January 1970 @ 1:00 am

forzieriislandsplash.JPG

Usually Forzieri sends me yucky crap about private collections, exclusive whatevers…generally pretty horrendous stuff. (Reader Franki Durbin uttered “fiercely ugly” quite appropriately.) But I thought this splash page was actually pretty aesthetically pleasing, and the featured products are kinda…kinda gorgeous. If I were boarding a cruise or off to white sandy beaches anytime soon, I wouldn’t mind receiving that gorgeous red crystal Swarovski cocktail ring, or that luminescent sterling silver seashell pendant as a gift…(hint hint.) The vibrant coral colors against a backdrop of sea-green and silvery streaks of sunlight is a beautiful combination. For more tropical island glam…blah, blah, Forzieri.

Adina Reyter’s fabulous ‘Snake Ring 2 Coil’ in hammered silver

Thursday 1 January 1970 @ 1:00 am

I was absolutely ga-ga over the Adina Reyter necklace with the pendant with the dangling snake design (that some say it looked like a little sperm… Huh, some minds!)
I’m pretty much ga-ga over anything that incorporates snake/serpent motifs (which I why I’m deeply in love with Roberto Cavalli, after all. He’s my soul mate.) The brilliant Adina Reyter now gives us the snake coil ring in hammered silver, where the smallest details (the slight curve and dip in the silver band) craft the head and tail of a tiny snake. US$100 even. Thats one Ben Franklin I won’t miss.

Anna Corina’s gigantic ‘Traveler’ luggage bag

Thursday 1 January 1970 @ 1:00 am

I decided not to crop out the cute brunette from the picture to give ya’ll a good sense of proportion for this Anna Corina ‘Traveler’. It looks huge!
It’s dimensions (18 1/2″ across x 15″ high x 7″ wide) just barely fit under the carry-on luggage restrictions (under 45′’ total). The way I stuff my bags (to the point of bursting at the seams and massive side/top bulge) it’ll probably end up exceeding the 45′’ limit. (How is it possible to fit more than 45′’ of stuff into a 41′’ bag? That is my magical, mystical secret. If I told you, I’d have to kill you.) Overall, though, I love how it looks; I adore the deep black leather, I like the polished seams and neat pockets, and if I had US$552 and an excuse/some cash to travel, I’d snatch it up right away.

Please can somebody buy a maybe pregnant Nicole Richie a new handbag?

Thursday 1 January 1970 @ 1:00 am

I know that Nicole Richie has a lot to deal with right now. Everybody is saying that she’s pregnant, she’s battling with an eating disorder, her on/off BFF Paris Hilton is in prison and she might soon be joining her but surely she has time to pop down to Balenciaga and buy a new handbag?
She is famous for her vast selection of Balenciaga bags in a variety of colours and whilst I admit that its a nice bag, this one looks a bit, over used? I know that designer handbags are ridiculously expensive but she was carrying this bag in 2005 when she was still friends with Lindsay Lohan.
Hopefully Nicolas Ghesquiere will read my plea for Ms Richie and promptly send her a new one. This would surely ease her stressful life? They’re £915 from Asos.com.

Shoe trends creeping into handbag design: Lauren Merkin ‘Grace’ cork clutch

Thursday 1 January 1970 @ 1:00 am

I wrinkled my nose at clear plastic totes when clear shoes and accessories were all the rage, and I wasn’t particularly fond of lucite clutches either when that hard plastic-ey material embellished every shoe and bangle on the market. Now cork seems to be the material of choice for summer wedges, sandals and even some jewelry, so I knew it wouldn’t be long until this Lauren Merkin ‘Grace’ cork clutch came along (US$250). Yuck! Cork is easily stained, marked, dented, nicked, gouged, torn, scratched, and worst of all… it looks ridiculous! (”Here, let me give you my phone number…” the handsome British uni student says to me as he fumbles for a pen. I reply, “Sure. May I borrow a push-pin so I can tack it on to my portable message-board, err… tuck in into my clutch?”)

Ornate rings by Kimberly Baker, featuring tiny gemstones in fantastic designs

Thursday 1 January 1970 @ 1:00 am

The accessories by Kimberly Baker are soooo tight - she’s one of the gals that can make skull and crossbones look fantastic with bunny charms, and make roses and crosses look something beyond goth. I couldn’t decide which one was the freakin’ coolest, so I thought I’d post ‘em all. These three are available at Active Endeavors right now at US$370, US$176 and US$383. I vaguely felt like those prices seemed a bit much to spend…but here’s why they’re so pricey, and worth the money. The ‘Honeycomb Ruby Ring’ features actual rubies (20 of em, in fact). The ‘Rose Ruby ring’ similarly features a ruby, nestled in carved sterlin silver. Last but not least is the ‘Octopi Ring’ which holds three green garnets in 18k vermeil gold overlay on sterlin silver. The ‘Octopi’ is my favorite, ‘cos the curling tentacles and bulbous head look awesome wrapped around a finger. Forget […]

Wallis has a go at the Chloe quilted ‘Bay’ bag

Thursday 1 January 1970 @ 1:00 am

Remind you of anything? They’ve taken on the Prada Gauffre and now Wallis has had a go at Chloe’s quilted ‘Bay’. The more I see the ‘Bay’ the more I like it, so I’d happily by Wallis’s version if it was available in any colour other than white! Still, it’s not bad for £27. (I’m not sure if that’s a big pocket, but the zips hanging down the side suggest it might be. If they’d moved the zips to the middle, the resemblance would be even more striking.)

Jane Shilton sandy small fashion tote bag - the perfect summer bag?

Thursday 1 January 1970 @ 1:00 am

Metallic has been popular in many many forms this season, but metallic tweed is something that hasn’t even crossed my mind before now! Jane Shilton’s sandy small fashion tote bag is made from faux leather and polyester which explains its cheap £32 price tag. My favourite aspect is the bright flowers (purple for the sand coloured bag, orange for the brown) but if you’re not such a fan they are removable and it features a bright striped fabric interior. Rather excitingly, if you buy a pair of shoes at the same time you can get 20% off this or any handbag! What better reason to indulge?

Alexandra Bee launches in UK with handbags for working mothers

Thursday 1 January 1970 @ 1:00 am

On 1st July Alexandra Bee launches in the UK at Crave Maternity stores. The handbag designer creates popular handbags that combine practicality with style. Fed up with the mad rush you have to seek out your mobile phone every time it rings, Bee creates bags with plenty of pockets so you can always find what you’re looking for!
“The bags are practical with lots of pockets and hidden compartments, made with premium Italian leathers and the choicest fabrics, each carefully handcrafted by skilled Italian artisans.”
The ‘Gaia’ bad (pictured above) is designed with working mothers in mind but would be good for anybody that carries that life around in their bag. You can already buy them from the website for around £295.
